Amongst the best-selling cars in the world, Audi began its eventful journey in Germany from its engineer August Horch and the manufacturers, DKW and Wanderer. It led to the foundation of Auto Union back in 1932 which eventually got acquired by Volkswagen from Daimler-Benz that soon started the modern era of the company. Afterwards, Volkswagen merged Auto Union together with NSU Motorenwerke back in 1969 after the introduction of the Audi F103 series in 1965, which then formed what the company is today. Nine production facilities around the world are producing vehicles branded by Audi with its headquarters standing in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany.

The four companies that joined together to create the Auto Union, the company’s predecessor, is represented by the four rings in the logo of Audi. Since 2007, “Truth in Engineering” became the marque’s official slogan though it has been criticised for being incongruous with their practice.

Audi, with its admission, was involved on the Volkswagen emissions testing scandal back in 2015 in which the emissions data were manipulated to pass the levels in avoiding pollution mandated by the government. Nevertheless, sales in the US increased by 16.2% in the month of September according to the marque’s reports.
