Regarded as the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer since 1959, Honda is a Japanese public multinational conglomerate corporation mostly recognised for their manufacturing of automobiles, motorcycles, airplanes, and power equipment. They are also recognised as the largest manufacturer of combustion engines in the world as measured by volume, with 14 million internal combustion engines being released each year. In 2001, the company became the second-largest Japanese automobile manufacturer and in 2011, the eighth largest automobile manufacturer in the world.

Founded by Soichiro Honda, the company’s very first motorcycle was the D-Type, built back in 1949. Moreover, their first automobile, T360 mini pick-up truck, was produced back in 1963. Aside from their primary business of selling motorcycles and automobiles, the company also manufactures equipment of very diverse range, from garden equipment, mountain bikes, marine engines, personal watercraft to power generators, and other products. Artificial intelligence and robotics are also a part of the company’s research and development, a field they invested a large part of their revenues in, with ASIMO being its most famous contribution.

Honda is also active in the field of racing, standing as the official sponsor of the 2006 FIA Formula 1 telecast.
